Directions to the Farm:
Cape Town - LAINGSBURG, take NI 268 km. Turn left (at the road sign Moordenaars Karoo) on the road towards Sutherland.
After c. 7 km drive over the narrow Buffelsrivier Bridge and 500 meters after the first motor grill at the gate (at 14 km) turn right to Faberskraal/Geelbek gates.
Another 2.5 km on dirt road to the farmhouse for departure of the tour. Farm tel. no. 023 5511702.
Guests usually stay in the simple, but nice farm house, that until only very recently, didn't have electricity. Up to 20 guests can be accommodated, so booking is essential.
Guests may alternatively be accommodated at the Lord Milner Hotel in Matjiesfontein, or at a number of guest houses and hotels in Laingsburg.
Arrive on the farm by noon (12.00pm) on Saturday, 23 June 2018. The lecture begins at 1.00pm, and follows a series of stone structures and rock paintings to end at sunset out in the veld at a site orientated to the winter solstice.
The following morning the lecture resumes 1 hour before sunrise to watch the sunrise at another site, with a packed picnic breakfast out in the veld. The trip concludes at noon on Sunday.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring your own food and drinks. There will be a braai in the evening, and there are limited cooking facilities in the farm house. Snacks, and a packed breakfast to be eaten on Sunday out in the veld.
Bedding is provided, but please bring your own towels and warm clothing.
